About the Product Contests

​The Vermont Farm Show Product Contests are an opportunity for producers to gain recognition for the excellent quality of the products they make or grow. Each category is judged by a different association and the results of the judging are displayed at the Farm Show. Entries from from all of the state (and occasionally NH if they are Christmas Trees).

General Rules for Product Contests

  • All entries must have been produced in Vermont by resident farmers or homemakers, except for members in the VT-NH associations. 
  • ​Any youth that has had an active part of producing the farm products may submit one entry per class. Youth are those under 19 years of age. 
  • Only one adult entry per farm is allowed in each class. 
  • Each entry must have an Official Entry Tag completely filled out. All contestants must make out their own entry tag. Tags may be marked at the top in such a way that only contestants can recognize their own entry.
  • Entry container must not have any identification or label.  Contestant information will not be exposed on entry tags when they do not qualify for honorable mention or excellent.
  • AFTER THE SHOW, ribbons and cash awards will be mailed to each contestant.
  • All entries, containers, score cards and recipes become property of the Vermont Farm Show.
  • All rulings of contests by judges are final.

Awards

  • Entries judged to be Excellent in each class will receive $10 and a ribbon -  Christmas trees judged Excellent will receive $25.
  • The Class Winner in every class will receive $25 and a ribbon.
  • The Best of Show in each category will receive $50 and Best of Show ribbons.
  • Entries meeting Acceptable Class standards but not receiving an Excellent will receive $5 and an Honorable Mention ribbon.​
